Photographer Andrew Wilson is seeking members of the wooden boat community from Kettering and surrounds, to participate in a new project titled The Custodians, which he will be exhibiting at the 2023 Australian Wooden Boat Festival.

Men and women of all ages (including children) are asked to book a time to have their portraits captured by Andrew in the Kettering Yacht Club on Saturday, June 11th between 2 pm and 4 pm.

“Whether you are a Custodian of wooden boat culture, craft, people, place, or objects - the boats themselves - I’m seeking participants of all ages from our wooden boat community, to put on their favourite salt-encrusted hat, jumper, or jacket, practice their best Sea Dog stare, and spend 5 minutes with me and my camera.”

The resulting portraits will be shown en-mass at The Custodians exhibition as an evolving display, with each participant also invited to visit the exhibition and hand-write a message on their printed image of what wooden boat custodianship means to them.

The Custodians will be exhibited at The Henry Jones/IXL Art Hotel during the 2023 festival, and throughout February.
